Utah Part Five, Provo/SLC

And here we are, on our last day of our trip. We worked hard to pack in a lot of sight-seeing today. The kids were amazing, since we drove them all over the place, made them take a couple hundred photos, and indulge in all of the yummy Utah places at which I wanted to indulge. I really wish I had a photo of them in Krispy Kreme, because it was their first time and they were in heaven. They even got to see them making donuts, and the HOT light was on, so we got free donuts, plus the ones we bought. We were all giddy from the sugar high. They were crying because we didn't get even more on our way out of town. But I think our bodies would have gone into shock if we ate anymore of those donuts.

We were lucky enough to stay with Jeff and his family our last two nights there. We were so cozy and well-cared for. It was wonderful to be able to hang out and chat at night, and the boys fell in love with that dog there, Shay. They were crying when I told them we couldn't take him home (thanks jeff).

This is the view from their yard - ya, the Draper Temple. Amazing.

Our first stop on that last day was Provo. We saw the temple first.

Then we headed on over to BYU, to see the campus. The boys listened (somewhat) patiently while Doug told them about the good old days. They wanted to take pictures in front of all of the sculptures there. We had a slooow start as we stopped at each one.

While there we saw the biology building and the fish there, and the engineering building, amongst others. We went to the bookstore and spent a small fortune on BYU attire. We also got to bump in to a few buddies from home - Cecily and Brittany. I love those girls.

Then we met up with Grandma for a quick bite to eat at In 'n' Out (I am still in shock that the boys didn't love this place), and headed on up to Salt Lake City and Temple Square.

I am so glad we got to experience this holy place with our children. I just kept imagining them attending the temple when they head off on their missions; when they get married. They are usually rambunctious and loud and constantly touching each other and, well, just so much like boys. But they were respectful and, even at the end of a long day, were aware of the reverence and spirit that was there.

Bummed that this is the back of the Angel Moroni, but it was tough to take these shots with my lens. Still annoyed I didn't have my wide angle. I loved the light here though.

We also went across the street to the conference center. I loved, loved loved this shot. We were there towards the very end of the day, and we were all pretty wiped out, and this picture just seemed to sum it up. I loved the light and the dark and how calm and still and quiet it was.

See? Worn out. But still amazing sports.

We spent our last night out with Maria and Dave and Sam (Jake was working). We saw their beautiful house and went to Cafe Rio (finally! I got to eat there!). I can't believe that after all of the pictures that I took on this trip, I didn't get any of Maria and Dave or their house (or that Cafe Rio Salad). What was I thinking? I am glad we got to spend time with them, and the kids were loving their Uncle Dave. In fact when we told them we were going to see Uncle Dave, they all said "which one?" to which I responded "the crazy one," to which they asked again, "which crazy Dave?" True. They are both crazy (in the fun, cool-uncle, wrestle sort of way).

Those are some awesome temple shots, friend. You didn't need the wide angle. Love the one where you can see the moon right above the spire.
