Finally Fall! First Day of School

This was a big year for our family - everyone was going to be in school!

Seth and Tate started first. Seth is in 5th grade, and his teacher is Mrs. Underwood. She seems perfect for him and his personality, and is determined to get her new class prepared for middle school next year (yikes!). Tate is in 4th grade and has Ms. Bannon for his home base classroom. He will end up having her for all three years at Mindess, which is good because she is invested in helping him grow and succeed. He has matured a lot over the past year and is ready to be a fourth grader. Both boys attend Mindess Elementary School. The bus stop is still at the Gutwill's home, next door (nice for us!).

Max was out the door next, heading off to 2nd grade at the Warren Elementary School. His teacher is Mrs. Freeman, who is wonderful for Max. She gives a lot of work and challenges the children academically, and yet is a strong believer that kids need motion and movement. She teaches a lot of concepts through song and movement. Max's biggest challenge this year is managing the headaches he gets on a frequent basis. We have spent the last several months trying to figure out what is causing them and how to manage the pain. Despite this, Max is still so happy and easy-going.

And here is our little preschooler! Walker is headed to Reach Preschool this year. Reach is run by two good friends who have co-taught elementary school in the past. The class size is limited to 10 and is held in one of his teacher's basements. It is a wonderful environment for him to start out school.

His backpack looks so big on his little body.

Walker and Kathryn get to go to school together, which is fine by him. He adores her. Sara and I both say goodbye to our youngest a few days a week. I was a little conflicted, but it is good to know he is in such a nurturing environment, and he loves it. I am getting used to my alone time and enjoying it more and more. The boys are growing up!
